Taiwanese actor Mark Chao has officially registered his marriage with Chinese actress Gao Yuanyuan yesterday, a week after they were spotted taking wedding photos in Paris.
The couple was seen registering for their marriage in Beijing, though they attempted to keep a low profile. After the news was leaked, Mark confirmed it via his manager.
“Yes, Mark registered his marriage in Beijing today! But the wedding details are really not firmed up yet, as they are both still very busy with work. We’ll inform everyone when the date is set. Mark thanks everyone for all your concern and blessings, and he says that today is a very joyful and blessed day,” said Mark’s manager.
As Mark is a Taiwanese, the couple has to travel to Taiwan to register for their marriage as well. Gao Yuanyuan, however, has refuted rumours that it was a shotgun marriage.
Mark’s father, veteran actor Allen Chao, responded to reporters’ queries via a text message: “Thank you everyone for your concern. Everything is up to them to decide. I will just be officiating the wedding.”
Netizens flooded the couple’s social media with well wishes, and even Mark’s rumoured ex-girlfriend, actress Janine Chang, sent her blessings.
She said: “Congrats! Hope everyone can find their own happiness.”
