Paula Deen abruptly shuts down restaurant, forgets to tell employees

Uncle Bubba's Seafood and Oyster House — the home of Paula Deen's 2013 racism scandal — has closed its doors, and employees of the restaurant were the very last to know.

The Washington Post reports that those who showed up to their Thursday morning shift at the Savannah, GA eatery were met with locked doors. The Savannah Morning News reported that employees were collecting their severance checks in the parking lot.

The Facebook page of the eatery had just a simple message posted to the top of its fan page:

Commenters put the restaurant management on blast for not informing its employees of the decision to close before posting to social media and shutting the doors.

Deen co-owned Uncle Bubba’s with her brother, Bubba Heirs. 

Deen made cringeworthy headlines when a former employee of Uncle Bubba’s filed a lawsuit claiming she had experienced sexual harassment and racial discrimination while working at the restaurant. In a  deposition for the case, Deen admitted unapologetically that she’d used the N-word, which ended up costing her millions in lost endorsement deals.

A statement on Uncle Bubba's abrupt closing was posted to Facebook:

Since its opening in 2004, Uncle Bubba's Oyster House has been a destination for residents and tourists in Savannah, offering the region's freshest seafood and oysters. However, the restaurant's owner and operator, Bubba Heirs, has made the decision to close the restaurant in order to explore development options for the waterfront property on which the restaurant is located. At this point, no specific plans have been announced and a range of uses are under consideration in order realize the highest and best use for the property.

The closing is effective today, Thursday, April 3, 2014. Employees will be provided with severance based on position and tenure with the restaurant. All effort will be made to find employees comparable employment with other Savannah restaurant organizations.

Aniston, who is also executive producer on the project, stars as Claire Simmons, who becomes fascinated by the suicide of Nina (Anna Kendrick), a fellow member of her chronic pain support group. 

As events unfold, Claire is forced to face her own personal tragedy while embarking on a relationship with Nina's husband.

Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi is reportedly pregnant with her and fiancé Jionni LaValle's second child.

The former Jersey Shore star is in the early stages of pregnancy but has yet to confirm the news, according to the New York Post.

Her spokesperson to declined to comment on the pregnancy rumor as well.
 
She got engaged to her boyfriend LaValle in early 2012, and the couple welcomed their son Lorenzo Dominic LaValle in August of that year.

Last month, Snooki discussed her wild past during an appearance on ABC's The View. 

The star admitted that she was "a party girl" prior to the birth of her son Lorenzo, but denied that she was ever an alcoholic. 

Snooki recently joked that she would like baby Lorenzo to have a play date with Kim Kardashian's daughter North.

Kristen Stewart dyes hair orange for new film role

Kristen Stewart has dyed her hair orange in preparation for her role in Nima Nourizadeh's American Ultra.

The Twilight actress visited the Maison de Cheveux hair salon in New Orleans for her makeover yesterday (April 4).

She will star alongside John Leguizamo, Uma Thurman and Jesse Eisenberg in the action comedy, which is scheduled for release in 2015.

The film centres around a stoner (Eisenberg) who, with his girlfriend (Stewart), becomes the target of a government agency when his past comes back to haunt him.

Nourizadeh will direct from the script by Chronicle writer Max Landis.

Earlier this year, Stewart said that she has no regrets about her life, despite admitting to struggling with the spotlight.

American Ultra will begin shooting on April 14.

The former NSYNC singer claimed to be on the verge of numerous solo deals when he came out in People magazine in 2006.

Speaking to Los Angeles radio DJ Valentine (via Wenn), the singer said: "I definitely felt coming out really hurt pretty much all of the products I was working on at the time.

"They canceled a bunch of the stuff… and that really set me back for years… so I had to go back and redevelop tons of other stuff for TV and film," he added.

Bass recently proposed to his boyfriend Michael Turchin.

The pair started dating in December 2011 and announced their engagement with a post on Instagram.

Taylor Swift has broken a sales record in China, after an upcoming gig in Shanghai sold out in just one minute. 

The '22' singer's scheduled performance on May 30 has become the fastest sell-out in the history of the country, WENN reports.

In addition to Shanghai, Swift will also perform in several other Asian countries for her worldwide Red Tour, including Japan, the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia. 

It's been a successful year for the performer, who recently topped Billboard's 'Money Makers' list ahead of Madonna.

Earlier this year, the singer also broke a concert record in the US, with the most sold-out shows at the Los Angeles Staples Center.

Mischa Barton: 'It annoys me that I'm remembered for The OC'

Mischa Barton has admitted she doesn't like being like being remembered for The OC.

Barton played Marissa Cooper in the hit show from 2003 to 2006. Her character was killed off in the third season finale, before the show ended in 2007.

Speaking to TV Extra, the 28-year-old said: "It makes me really happy that the show had such a cultural impact.

"It made me internationally famous - there's literally nowhere in the world I can go where people haven't seen it."

When asked if it bothered her that she was still remembered for the role 11 years after the show started, she replied: "Yes [it annoys me], but what are you gonna do?'

She added: "There's just so much more to the work I've done."

Barton recently opened up about her breakdown after finding international fame on the Fox show.

The actress was involuntarily admitted to a psychiatric ward in 2009 after blacking out under the influence of a sedative and threatening to kill herself.

"It was always, 'She's too skinny, she must be sick'. Then it was, 'She's too big'. I was never the right weight," she said.

Taiwanese eye candy Mike He’s goody-two-shoes image has been tainted last year when he revealed his exemption from Taiwan’s mandatory military service. He cited a lower back medical condition which sparked speculations that he is deliberating avoiding military service.

This image was further tarnished when he was recently photographed by a magazine to be completely drunk, and had to be carried out of a KTV by three other friends.

That night, he was partying with his friends at the KTV till 3am, and got himself so drunk that his friends had to send him home in a cab. When they were carrying the unconscious Mike out, his shirt was accidentally pulled up, revealing an unglamorous side of the actor with a beer belly, unlike his pretty boy idol image.

Mike responded to the reports through his management, HIM International Music. “It was my high school friend’s birthday, and because I also had to start filming two days later, I wanted to relax a little, so I drank a little too much, and only realised what happened the next day. I usually don’t do this; it’s so embarrassing,” he said.

Taiwan popstar Jay Chou ran into his fan at a park recently, generously agreeing to take a picture together and even offering to take care of the latter’s dog.

The fan, a Mr Liang, revealed that he was walking his dog when he ran into Jay, so he ran up to the singer excitedly and asked, “Are you Jay Chou? Can I take a photo with you?”

After being shocked by the sudden approach, Jay asked, “Didn’t you already take one at the airport! You want to take a photo again?” The fan was extremely honoured to be remembered by his idol, and said in response, “Of course (I want to take one again), there’s a dog this time!”

Jay happily acceded to his request and the fan whipped out his phone – only to discover that it had run out of battery. Desperate, he pleaded for Jay to wait for him to go home and grab his iPad. Jay not only agreed, he even offered to walk the fan’s dog for him while waiting.

Two minutes later, said fan rushed back to the scene and finally got a photo with the star, eagerly posting it onto the Internet to share his fortune with the world.

However, according to reports, the little puppy bit Jay while they were saying their goodbyes. Jay did not push the matter, and merely laughed it off.

Since Taiwan singer Jolin Tsai and model Vivian Dawson were involved in a scandal in 2010, it became increasingly evident that the two were in a relationship, despite no confirmation from both parties. The day before, the Mandopop singer finally admitted their romance for the first time.

When asked about her marriage views during a cover shoot in Paris, the singer said, “Marriage shouldn’t happen just because you’re at the right age, or to follow tradition. It should only happen when you feel that you really need it.”

The reporter probed about her relationship with Vivian, and Jolin admitted frankly, “Today we’re a couple. As long as we believe that we belong together, that’s enough for me. I don’t need that piece of paper.”

For the pop queen, marriage isn’t the happy ending in a fairytale, it’s only the addition of kids and union of two families. She believes that a good relationship should be a simple happiness that you enjoy every day.

So when will wedding bells ring for her and her beau? Jolin replied, “Probably when we are expecting the next generation!”

At the same time, the couple was witnessed at the Taiwan airport sporting colourful couple shorts and scarves, boarding a plane to Japan for an early honeymoon, leading to speculations that they might have a blitz marriage.

Jolin will also be releasing her new album in the summer. This is the first time she is participating in composing and writing of lyrics. The day before, Jolin revealed that her friend had conveniently gifted her with a set of mini recording devices, so she tries a hand at composing whenever she is home with nothing to do.

Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu is speculated to be pregnant with her first child after she was seen with a slightly protruding tummy at an event recently.

Ever since her marriage with Chinese entrepreneur Wang Xiaofei in November 2010, the couple had been trying to conceive a baby but without success. It was rumoured that Wang's mother had ordered the entrepreneur to divorce Barbie as she wants a grandson soon.

However, at an event in Shanghai earlier this month, the 35-year-old was spotted removing her heels and changing to flats right after the event ended. Assisted by her assistant up the stairs and taking extra care, the actress was seen with her tummy slightly protruding which led to rumours that she had successfully conceived a baby.

According to a tip-off, Barbie and Wang had kept the news under wraps due to a Chinese traditional belief that pregnancies should not be announced during the first trimester.

It is rumoured that Wang's family had been preparing tonics for the actress daily and had ordered her to cut down on wearing heels.

Japanese actress Meisa Kuroki recently revealed that she manages her own assets, and so does her husband, musician Jin Akanishi, sparking speculation that the couple may be on the verge of divorce, as they have been rumoured to be facing issues in their relationship.

The celebrity couple had a ‘flash marriage’ in 2012 and Meisa gave birth to a daughter that same year. However, their management Johnny and Associates has always forbidden their artistes from dating, and after Jin announced the news of his marriage to Meisa, his contract was terminated.

The burden of bringing home the bacon then fell on Meisa’s shoulders, and Jin was said to be financially dependent on his wife.

Due to Meisa’s busy filming schedule, she had to rely on her mother to take care of her daughter. Meanwhile, Jin was rumoured to have had an affair due to loneliness after his workload was greatly decreased.

Meisa’s image is said to have been tarnished by her husband, and is rumoured to be signing the divorce papers in April before she starts shooting her new drama. She had also admitted earlier she has not been in contact with her husband for some time.

The daughter of Sir Bob Geldof and the late Paula Yates leaves behind two children, Astala Dylan Willow, 23 months, and Phaedra Bloom Forever, 11 months.

A statement from Kent Police read: "At this stage, the death is being treated as unexplained and sudden." 

Authorities say they were called to an address near Wrotham, Kent following a report of concern for the welfare of a 25-year-old woman on Monday afternoon (April 7).

Peaches was later pronounced dead by South East Coast Ambulance Service.

Background information
The prodigal son of the Hong Kong entertainment circle, Nicholas Tse Ting-Fung was born on August 29, 1980. Tse spent most of his formative years in Vancouver and Phoenix, Arizona, but Hong Kong audiences became acquainted with him as a child because of his parents, veteran actors Patrick Tse and Deborah Li. Both revelled in being the focus of media attention and often brought out Tse and his sister to pose for holiday family photos, which were published in HK magazines. As a result of the early attention, Tse became accustomed to being in the public eye and it seemed inevitable that he would follow in their footsteps—in more ways than one.
Starting out initially in music, Tse made his first venture into the movies with his role as a young Chan Ho-Nam in Young and Dangerous: The Prequel (1998). His performance earned him a Hong Kong Film Award for Best New Artist. He followed this with strong outings in the drama Metade Fumaca (1999), and in commercial productions like Gen-X Cops (1999) and My Schoolmate, the Barbarian (2001). In addition, he had a scene-stealing cameo in Comic King (2000), and wrote and co-directed a short with fellow actor Stephen Fung for the anthology film Heroes in Love (2001).
However, while Tse is considered to be one of the most promising actors of his generation, it is his off-screen escapades that have garnered the most attention. He’s kept the press busy ever since stepping foot in Hong Kong as a singer in 1996, from criticism of him riding on the coattails of his parents to news of rivalries with other male entertainers. In addition, his on-and-off-again relationship with older woman Faye Wong has been prime water-cooler discussion fodder. Not afraid to share his opinions, Tse has also gained negative attention for his outspokenness in interviews. At one point, he was frozen by TVB after criticizing them in an inteview with TimeAsia.com.
More recently, it was Tse's penchant for speed that put him in hot water. His now infamous perversion of justice case—in which a chauffeur for entertainment company EEG attempted to take the blame for an accident that Tse caused—was headline news for many months. The courts handed Tse a guilty verdict and he spent two weeks in jail before being sentenced to 240 hours of community service, a decision that incited much public uproar. Big names from all over Asia turned up to celebrate Jackie Chan’s 60th birthday

Hong Kong action star Jackie Chan turns 60 today – but his son, actor Jaycee Chan, began planning for the celebration more than a year ago. In order to celebrate this momentous occasion, numerous activities were planned beforehand, one of which was the Peace & Love & Friendship concert that was held at the Beijing Workers' Stadium last night.

Stars who turned up to offer their blessings include singers Lee Zong Sheng, Jay Chou, Lee Hom, Coco Lee, actor Leo Ku, Korean idol group EXO, Kim Hee Sun and MISIA from Japan.

Jackie kicked off the concert at 7pm, performing with a group of 200 children adorning red T-shirts, as they sang to the tune of Jaycee’s self-composed song, Bu Zai Shi Qu. The birthday star greeted fans from all around the world in various languages, and promoted world peace and anti-racism. It was declared that all proceeds from the concert will go towards charitable causes.

Taiwan Mando-pop star Lee Hom performed subsequently, singing hit song Only One together with fans. The singer also praised Jackie for his huge contributions to the film and music industry and supported the actor’s views on love and peace.

When Jackie told Lee Hom to guess which designer designed the dark green suit he was wearing, Lee Hom merely smiled but did not answer. In response, Jackie declared proudly that the designer was “Joan Chen-Lin” (Jackie’s wife, former actress Lin Feng-jiao) as the crowd erupted in cheers.

I became aware of One Direction after seeing friends&family repeatedly mentioning them on Twitter and FB. It also doesn't help that I have an eleven years old sister who is completely obsess with them.

Former Mr. Hong Kong and TVB actor Stefan Wong has admitted that he has been restless waiting for the birth of his first baby.

According to Oriental Daily, the "Awfully Lawful" star, who got married in France in August 2012, revealed that he has been 'busier than a house maid', accompanying his wife, Peggy, to her gynaecologist appointments and taking care of her.

The 35 year-old had revealed to the media his wife's third-month pregnancy back in November 2013. He also disclosed that she is carrying a baby girl and will be expecting to deliver in May.

"Peggy plans to deliver via C-section instead of natural birth," said the actor, who also admitted to have been busy buying and stocking up baby supplies especially diapers, clothes and baby food.

"We've also recently purchased a baby crib," the actor enthused. "My wife and I have packed a hospital bag and are ready to go at any minute now."

In regards to the baby's name, Stefan said that they have already listed some names, but have yet to decide on which one. He also added that they will consult a Feng Shui master for the Chinese name instead.

Rumours of Athena Chu's pregnancy have resurfaced again recently, when the actress was spotted meeting a gynaecologist.

As reported on Sina, the 42 year-old was recently seen clad in a long jacket to hide her bulging tummy on her way to a meeting with a gynaecologist for a pre-natal check-up, with husband Paul Wong in tow.

Prior to the consultation, she was also seen visiting a maternity store on her own, checking out accessories and tools for breastfeeding.

It was also reported that the couple had another visit to a Chinese clinic specialised in pregnancy and treatments of infertility the next day. The clinic was allegedly the same clinic the actress went to when she was expecting her first born.

If the rumours are true, then it would be the actress' second pregnancy. Athena, who married the Beyond guitarist in 2012 after dating for 14 years, gave birth to her first daughter Debbie, in the same year.
