Taiwanese Mandopop singer decided to take it upon himself, in the wake of recent threats, to protect his own safety.
At the wrap party of his movie The Mansion yesterday, alongside the other cast and crew members, Jam appeared with 10 bodyguards, adding a somber note to the otherwise casual setting.
The sudden additional of 10 bodyguards vexed the executive producer Qiu Likuan, who jokingly grumbled: “Now how are we to know who should settle the bill?” However, she admitted that she was disturbed by the threats, and that it is important to put safety first. She jokingly added that she is “thankful she has a ‘safe’ appearance”.
Jam’s infamous Japanese fan Yuki was suspected of being the mastermind behind the threats, but shedenied the claims, and even told the media that she would make a police report on March 7. It was rumoured that she would also send a warning to the person who “slandered” her.
In response to this, Likuan initially retorted with “what do we care about this”, but shortly changed her statement to “that’s good,” and hoped that the culprit can be found soon.
Jam previously admitted that these incidents made him paranoid and anxious, and he even had to bring his dog along when he appeared for his show to calm his nerves.
Now, he appeared to have calmed down and confessed that he is no longer afraid. He then animatedly told reporters on his role in the movie, in which he stars as an otaku (a term used for people who enjoy staying at home instead of socialising) who develops a love triangle with the two female leads. He even joyfully admitted that he “enjoys the kissing scenes!”
“I have always wanted to live comfortably, and that is only possible with both parties’ blessing,” confessed Taiwanese Mandopop star Yoga Lin, hinting that he and his rumoured girlfriend, Hong Kong singer-songwriter G.E.M. Tang have called it quits.
The latter has, reportedly, ditched the 26-year-old crooner after she rose to fame since participating in China’s popular singing competition programme for celebrities, I am a Singer.
While both parties have been keeping mum about the issue, they have both dropped hints on their respective social media account, Weibo, with phrases like “made a mistake” from G.E.M. and “we have our own direction” by Yoga.
The Taiwanese singer’s recent announcement about his intention to enlist in the army in July only further fueled speculations.
When queried by the media during his latest world tour,Speaking in Tongues, press conference yesterday, Yoga chose not to answer directly.
Instead, he replied with a couple of questions: “Must I answer? Am I handsome today?”
It was only after a resounding “very handsome” by the media that he said: “I have been trying to find a lifestyle that’d suit me best and make both parties happy,” as if hinting that their relationship has come to an end. “Now, I feel happy and I am enjoying my life.”
After Korean star Kim Soo Hyun rose to fame for his recent drama, You Who Came From The Star, he has been invited to several TV programmes in China, including Jiangsu TV’s popular variety show Super Brain.
Soo Hyun was said to have earned NT$15 million (approximately S$620,000) for his appearance.
At the recording of the show yesterday, another guest, Taiwanese host Matilda Tao, teased him with a question that drove the audience mad with screaming. “Why did you wear a towel when you were bathing in the drama?” she asked.
Faced with such a sensitive and awkward question, Soo Hyun blushed, and replied: “If I don’t wear it, the scene would not be broadcasted!”
Her embarrassing question enraged Soo Hyun’s fans, who called her names online, branding her as “indecent” and even expressed their hate for her.
In response to the criticisms, Matilda said that the producers had wanted her to interact with Soo Hyun during the programme. “My question is related to the drama, and I did not mean to ‘take advantage’ of him,” she said.
Taiwanese diva A-Mei’s boyfriend Sam was recently seen lashing out at the singer in his club, after having too many drinks. The songstress was entertaining the customers when her boyfriend suddenly started shouting at her: “Zhang Hui Mei, who do you think you are!”
Despite his actions, A-Mei continued to stay beside the drunken Sam to take care of him. When the 41-year-old eventually decided to leave the scene, Sam allegedly chased after her and yelled: “I’ve had enough of you, damn Zhang Hui Mei!”
However, an insider later told a different side of the story regarding the happenings that night. Exhausted by the lack of rest, A-Mei had gone home without informing Sam, who apparently got into a dispute with a bartender under the influence of alcohol. The insider also claimed that Sam was too drunk to run after the songstress.
Meanwhile, rumours are rife that A-Mei has been financially supporting her beau by paying for his apartment, buying him a sports car and forking out money to invest in his club. After reports were published, many fans berated Sam’s behaviour and rallied for the couple, who has been dating for three years, to break up.
