AKB48 21st single Everyday Kachuusa [2011.05.25]
AKB48 is an female theater/idol group produced by Yasushi Akimoto. AKB48 is theatre-based and have their own theater in Akihabara where they perform once every weekday, and more than once on both Saturday and Sunday. AKB48 stands for AKihaBara and the 48 is the number of members in the group, however the number of members has been known to fluctuate under or above 48. There is also another group called the research team which would preform at the theater and sometimes in PVs and are kind known as back-ups, or not actually part of the AKB. The theatre is set up on the 8th floor of Don Quijote. AKB48 has three teams: Team A, Team K and Team B. Currently, there are 13 members in Team A, 15 members in Team K, and 14 members in Team B, getting to the total of 42 members in AKB48. Minami Takahashi is the captain of Team A while Atsuko Maeda is AKB's most popular member.
In July 2005, Yasushi Akimoto held an audition for a new theater based idol girl group. In December 2005, the group debuted in the theater with only 20 girls, later known as Team A. A new audition was announced, this audition was held in cooperation with Japanese telecom company NTT DoCoMo. In the end only 18 girls joined the group to become Team K in April 2006. In October 2006, a new audition was announced to form Team B, resulting in the arrival of 13 new members in December 2006. Because of the popularity of AKB48 there is also SND48 and SKE48
The members of AKB48 are surprisingly close despite their big number. They always take naps together, and baths. But they have a habit of stealing each other's food if no name is on it. At first only attracting wota, now they have fans from all over the world, females and males, young and old.
They are split into 3 groups. Team A (Pink, traditional idols), Team K (Green, tough/boyish idols), Team B (Blue, laid back/cool idols) and their research members which are basically trainees or understudies.
