Johnny Depp unrecognisable as he transforms into Whitey Bulger for film
Johnny Depp was almost unrecognisable as he transformed into his latest role of gangster Whitey Bulger on the set of Black Mass in Boston this week.
The 50-year-old actor, who is reportedly in talks to play illusionist Harry Houdini in an upcoming movie, was wearing a balding wig cap and fake teeth as he shot scenes involving a dead body by a river in Massachusetts.
He also donned a pair of oversized sunglasses, a leather jacket and a pair of blue jeans, and was spotted laughing and joking with crew members in between takes.
Depp plays infamous mobster Whitey in the drama directed by Scott Cooper and adapted from Dick Lehr's book Black Mass: The True Story of an Unholy Alliance Between the FBI and the Irish Mob. It centres on the Irish mafia's relationship with the FBI in Boston.
Benedict Cumberbatch recently joined the cast as Whitey Bulger's brother Billy Bulger, along with Parks and Recreation's Adam Scott, who is reported to play FBI agent Robert Fitzpatrick.
Joel Edgerton, Dakota Johnson and Juno Temple have also boarded the movie, while Breaking Bad's Jesse Plemons has reportedly been in negotiations too.
The film is expected for release next year.
