Justin Timberlake has described leaving *NSYNC as one of the "best" and "worst" decisions of his career.

The singer left the boyband in 2002 to pursue a solo career, which saw him go on to release three highly successful albums on his own.

"I would wake up every morning feeling this more and more of an urge to step out on my own and try my own hand as a musician just by myself," Timberlake told Oprah Winfrey on her new show Oprah's Master Class.

"It was happening all around me. [People asked] 'Why wouldn't you ride this out? You're the biggest group in the world. Why would you walk away from this?'"

He added: "It's one of the best/worst things that I have ever done. It was hard to say goodbye to that era, but I felt it changing. I felt music changing. And I felt myself changing."

*NSYNC recently reunited for a brief performance at the MTV Video Music Awards in Brooklyn, New York last September.

However, JC Chasez was quick to affirm that *NSYNC have no future plans to reunite again in the near future for a tour.
