Chris Brown has reportedly been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, severe insomnia and post-traumatic stress disorder.
The singer recently underwent anger management therapy in rehab, a stint he voluntarily extended by one week.
Brown was in court on Friday (February 28) for a progress hearing in the Rihanna domestic violence case. During the hearing, documents filed by his rehab facility suggested that his anger issues may have been triggered by mental health issues.
The documents, obtained by TMZ, state that Brown has been inappropriately self-medicating his mental health disorder.
"Mr. Brown became aggressive and acted out physically due to his untreated mental health disorder, severe sleep deprivation, inappropriate self-medicating and untreated PTSD," the document claims.
The report also praised the star's attitude and confirmed that he is on medication, saying: "Mr Brown's attitude has been beyond exemplary in regard to his community service responsibilities."
Brown is said to be planning a duet single with Ariana Grande and is working towards the release of his new album.
