Chris Pine has become the latest celebrity to voice his concern over Russia's anti-gay laws.
The Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit star told The AP that the US should do more to protest against Russia's gay rights stance in the lead-up to the Sochi Winter Olympics.
"I think we should do more than just send gay Olympians there," he said.
"What's happening there in terms of gay rights or the lack of it is extraordinary and awful."
Pine was referring to the US choosing to send openly gay former tennis player Billie Jean King as head of the US delegation, alongside skater Brian Boitano and ice hockey player Caitlin Cahow.
Russia passed a new law in June 2013 banning "propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations", which stops people expressing support for gay rights.
Pine's latest film Jack Ryan is an original story based on the Tom Clancy books, which sees his eponymous character go undercover to expose a financial terrorist plot.
Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit will be released on January 17 in the US and on January 24 in the UK.
